About Soma
Soma is Greek for, "Body."
Soma also reflects Somatics, movement guided by awareness; listening to your body, moving with intention, and reconnecting to how you feel.
Soma is a third space for the community to gather and make their own. A place to connect, to heal, to gain strength and to meet new friends in a safe environment.
Fun classes, workshops and events happen monthly. Reach out if you want to collaborate!

Meet The Team

Maureen Hennigan
MEET MAUREEN
Maureen is the founder and creator of SOMA.
Her family has called Vega Baja home for many years, and while living in Los Angeles, she returned to Puerto RIco every year to visit.
A former dancer with over 12 years of expericence teaching fitness in Los Angeles and now Puerto Rico, Maureen is a NASM Certified Personal Trainer with training and certifications in Ashtanga Yoga and Vinyasa Yoga, Barre, Mat Pilates, HIIT Cardio, Lagree and Pilates.
After moving to Puerto Rico, she found herself craving the kind of community spaces she loved in LA, places that were about more than taking a class. She wanted to create a space in Vega Alta where people could move, connect, gather, and feel at home.
That idea became SOMA: a movement and communtiy space shaped by the people who walk through its doors, with thoughtful extras, special events, and local collaboratios.
Maureen hopes you'll love SOMA as much as she does and looks forward to growing it alongside the communtiy.

Natalia Colon Bernard
MEET NATALIA
Her yoga journey began in 2005 through Bhakti Yoga, a practice that shaped her early years and opened the door to years of travel, exploration and discovery.
A surfer, plant lover, and student of natural healing, she has explored courses in iridology, herbology, and plant-based living, always curious about the connection between nature, nourishment, movement and the body. Crystals, the ocean, and time spent in nature are also part of the world that inspires her.
In 2013, She traveled to Los Angeles to study the original Hot Yoga- The Bikram Method- Directly with Bikram Choudhury.
Since 2015, she has been part of the Hot Yoga Puerto Rico story, becoming its owner in June 2021.
Her path has continued to eveolve, but her commitment to the original Hot Yoga prcatice has remained constant-- not from rigidity, but from experience, curiosity and discernment.
